  11.                The Trial-Size HP LAN Manager/X program has been
  12.                discontinued immediately in lieu of a new HP LAN
  13.                Manager/X demo program.
  14.

  16.                Customers who request Trial-Size LAN Manager/X via a
  17.                business-reply card are being sent a letter explaining
  18.                how to obtain a copy of the LAN Manager/X demo from
  19.                their Sales Representative.  A copy of this letter is
  20.                included later in this hotline article.  In this letter
  21.                they are told to call their HP Sales Representative and
  22.                ask to arrange to have a demo copy of LAN Manager/X
  23.                version 1.3 installed on their system.

  26.                The demo license when used with version 1.3 of HP LAN
  27.                Manager/X for the HP 9000 provides full-featured use
  28.                that will expire 30 days after installation.

  35.           2.   Providing your customer with an HP LAN Manager/X demo
  36.  
  37.                To install the HP LAN Manager/X demo on your customer's
  38.                system:

  40.                     1)  You must have a copy of the version 1.3 of LAN
  41.                     Manager/X for the HP 9000 software (either B1011C
  42.                     for the HP 9000 model 600/700/800 or B1003C for
  43.                     the HP 9000 model 300/400).  If you have not
  44.                     received this through an SE distribution, place an
  45.                     order at TAC price.

  47.                     2)  Print out a copy of the license agreement
  48.                     (included in the next section of this document).
  49.                     It includes the demo license number's you'll need
  50.                     to activate LM/X for your customer.  Give your
  51.                     customer a copy of this license when you install
  52.                     the software for him.

  60.                Version 1.3 of HP LAN Manager/X for HP 9000 software
  61.                has features to prevent unauthorized copying of the
  62.                software and requires that you enter a serial number
  63.                and activation key before you can start the server.
  64.                Below you will find two serial number / activation key
  65.                pairs.  The demo activation key will activate the
  66.                software to be used for 30 days after it is installed.

  92.                activation key you must log on as the super-user or
  93.                root and run the licensing program, called lmlic.  To
  94.                run lmlic, enter /usr/lib/lm/lmlic.  If you are
  95.                updating an existing license to add more user, be sure
  96.                to restart the LAN Manager/X server after you have
  97.                finished adding your new serial number and activation
  98.                key.
